Why Choose Trauma-Informed Addiction Treatment?
Addiction doesn’t occur in a vacuum, and treatment shouldn’t either. Many clients at CMAR have experienced traumatic events or prolonged emotional pain that directly contribute to substance use.
Trauma-informed care doesn’t force disclosure. Instead, it ensures that every aspect of treatment, from medical decisions to therapy interactions, is guided by safety, trust, choice, and empowerment.
With trauma-informed care, you can:
- Build trust and feel safe in treatment
- Heal without judgment, shame, or pressure
- Understand the connection between trauma and substance use
- Learn coping skills that don’t rely on substances
- Engage with therapy at your own pace
- Be treated as a whole person, not just a diagnosis
What Makes CMAR’s Approach Trauma-Informed?
We don’t treat trauma as an afterthought, we build recovery around it.
Core elements of our model include:
- Trained, compassionate clinical staff who understand how trauma shapes behavior and emotions
- Collaborative treatment planning with shared decision-making
- Non-coercive, supportive medication management
- Therapy styles like CBT, and trauma-focused approaches
- Attention to emotional triggers during MAT, group work, and psychiatric care
- Stigma-free environment that welcomes all identities and experiences
Is Trauma-Informed Care Right for You?
You may benefit from trauma-informed addiction care if you:
- Use substances to cope with anxiety, stress, fear, or emotional pain
- Have experienced abuse, neglect, sexual trauma, domestic violence, or medical trauma
- Feel easily overwhelmed or unsafe in traditional treatment environments
- Struggle with trust, emotional regulation, or past misdiagnoses
- Want to recover without feeling judged, rushed, or retraumatized

Your healing journey and new life starts now

I started in August 2024 and was guided to IOP, which included three sessions a week. I’ll never forget the first time I walked in—I was welcomed right away. James Jackman was the group therapist that day and made me feel comfortable from day one. He would later become my personal therapist, and I owe a lot to him for helping me through my recovery.
I came in wanting to change my relationship with alcohol, but I ended up working through so much more—my anxiety, childhood trauma, and the reasons behind my substance use. I learned more about myself and grew as a person in ways I never imagined.
After graduating IOP in three months, I decided to continue in OP for another year. Through CMAR, I’ve built a strong sober community and made many close friends. If you’re looking for help, this place is truly amazing.

Clients feel valued not judged —highest respect and recommendation for their services.

Nothing would stand in my way of a drink. My actions revolved around minimizing consequences to decisions that would reap the best benefit of this disorder. This disease manipulates you and as a result, you manipulate everyone around you just to fulfill a falsely created ritual.
After spending another round in rehab, I started an intensive outpatient program at CMAR. I recently graduated and started in their regular outpatient program. I get to see a certified counselor every week in addition to fixed flexible courses. This place saved my life. I don't take that lightly and I'm not exercising my freedom of speech just to say it. I mean it, CMAR's professional staff and programs saved my life.
I just hit the 7 month mark of my sobriety. I'm happy, in every sense of the word, in a way that I haven't been in many years. For anyone out there struggling, please recognize, I know exactly what you're going through. I'm not unique in any way. I just decided that my life is worth living without substances.
I believe that taking your first step to accepting this truth is going to be the hardest. Please consider allowing CMAR to help you ground this decision. It's the most important choice you'll ever make. The road to recovery is not an easy one. The greatest part of all the difficulty is that we're not alone. CMAR develops serious relationships with others through intense attributable work.
Since this is working for me, I have no doubt in my heart that it will work for you. Please take action because it's already too late. For a lot of people, they never got to this realization. I hope to see you soon in one of the classes.
Peace and grace be with you,
Jeremiah White
